Lono's history expands more than 20 years
with popular and isand style music.
He grew up on the island of Molokai.
After moving to Waianae with his Grandparents, he attended
UH as a freshman. While dorming, he met friends with the
same passion of playing Old Style music. Lono has recorded
and performed in Chicago with Joe Walsh of the Eagles, Christopher
Cross and Jeff Webb, the composer for songs sung by Glen
Campbell as well as our own local Henry Kapono and many
others.
After a visit with some friends from Anahola, Kaua'i
he decided to stop doing pop and island style songs and
return to his roots with the backyard style Hawaiian Folk
Music that the Sons of Hawaii and other local artists
did before. He found that his audience changed, they were
friendlier and appreciated his form of Hawaiian music.
Lono then decided to "Keep it Hawaiian". His initial
release of Old Style on July 16th 2004 garnered him an opportunity
to enter as a preliminary ballot nominee for the first ever
Grammy in the Folk Category for Hawaiian Music - a national
recognition.

A Moloka'i original with all the songs written by
Lonomusic except for tracks 4 and 15 which are traditional.
Songs about the myths, legends, places and people of Moloka'i.
The CD is packed with what is known throughout these islands
as "Mana".

OLD STYLE III:
Lono plays all the instruments and sings all the songs. There
is one track that is about the soverign land located on the
island of 'Oahu (Nu'uanu) where the Hawaiian royalty rest.
An honorary song to William "Kaihe'ekai Maioho"
who's family has been intrusted with the caring of the Hawaiian
monarch. Another track to "Nanahoa" or the "Phallic
Rock" titled Botonui" located at the Kalaupapa lookout.
The music is friendly and characteristic. It is the folk music
of Hawai'i truely being continued for the past generations
and the future generations.
