Socher started the Big Wind Kite Factory in 1980.
All of their kites and windsocks are hand made on Molokai
in the back room of the Big Wind Kite Factory.
To prevent fraying each design is cut one at a time with
a wood burning tool, which cauterizes or sears the edge.
Instead of simply pinning, the applique is attached to the
background using their secret method of spot welding. They
use only American made materials; Nylon, Dacron, carbon
and fiberglass - and their designs are exclusive.
